The Physics section of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is immediately seeking a qualified medical physicist for its High Point Medical Center location. The successful candidate will be one of two staff physicists at this regional practice.

Duties will include general clinical coverage and QA as well as support for special procedures; VMAT/IMRT, IGRT, SBRT and SGRT. This position requires a well-trained individual who has excellent interpersonal skills, strong motivation in clinical medical physics and a desire to work in a dynamic environment. Although the majority of the effort is to provide clinical service, research and teaching opportunities also exist.

High Point is located in the beautiful Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina.  The area, with a population of 1.7 million, has one of the lowest costs of living in the US and is home to multiple universities and natural attractions providing an abundance of both cultural and outdoor activities.

Our Radiation Physics team currently consists of 12 members and a Medical Physics graduate program.  A clinical physics residency program is to start this summer. There is also dedicated IT support. The Physics section is responsible for the main campus’ NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and 3 regional practices. The High Point practice has 2 Elekta linear accelerators (Versa and Infinity), MOSAIQ, RayStation, VisionRT, a Siemens CT Simulator, and a full complement of QA and analysis tools. Interaction with the main center and participation in the new residency program is supported.

The position requires either ABR board certification or eligibility (successfully completed a CAMPEP residency or part II of the ABR exam in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics). Applications from candidates that will graduate from a clinical physics residency this summer or that have graduated from such within the past 2 years are encouraged.
