Three Radiation Oncology Physics resident positions are available for the CAMPEP accredited Residency Program in the Department of Radiation Physics at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. The Physics Residency Program provides training and experience in the clinical aspects of radiation oncology physics. This training encompasses direct patient care physics duties in brachytherapy and external beam treatment (including proton therapy). External beam special procedures include IMRT, IGRT, SRS/SRT, TSET, TMI, TLI, TBI, Gamma Knife, and MR-Linac. Training in brachytherapy procedures will include LDR, HDR, PDR, and seed implants. This is a clinical training program. However, some time may be spent on clinical developmental projects/research. Training involves rotations with clinical physics groups supporting all treatment sites. The resident will work under the direct supervision of experienced, board-certified, and licensed clinical medical physicists. Training progress will be monitored through regular meetings with the program director and routine oral examinations.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in medical physics from a CAMPEP accredited graduate education program. Candidates with a Ph.D. in physics, engineering, or related fields who have completed a CAMPEP accredited certificate program will also be considered. Our residency program Will Not Participate in National Matching System this year (2023-2024).
