The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Medical University of South Carolina is recruiting a motivated radiation oncology physicist for a faculty position. The successful candidate will be able to participate in all facets of our radiation oncology physics program, including clinical support, equipment performance checks, teaching, clinical projects, as well as planning and commissioning of new technologies. This position is for our clinic in Murrells Inlet, SC at the MUSC Health Tidelands Health Radiation Therapy Center.
This center is a small but dynamic department with a great atmosphere. Current clinical staffing includes two radiation oncologists, one physicist, seven radiation therapists, and two dosimetrists. Treatment equipment includes two Varian TrueBeams, a Varian Gammamed Plus iX HDR unit, one Siemens CT simulator and Varian RGSC and Identify motion management systems. Treatment planning systems utilized are Eclipse with Aria OIS and Brachyvision. Other equipment and software include IBA scanning systems, Mobius, MIM, SNC QA devices, a 3D Printer, a scripting test box, and a variety of other instrumentation. New projects and innovation ideas are welcome in this environment as well!
Candidates should be board certified or eligible for board certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). Candidates currently enrolled in CAMPEP accredited medical physics residency programs (graduating summer 2023) will be considered. Experience with Varian TrueBeam accelerators, Eclipse treatment planning, and Aria OIS is desirable. An M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Medical Physics or in a related field is required. In addition, a strong clinical background and experience base would position the candidate well to meet the needs of this clinic where we all work together to achieve high quality patient care!
