Bayhealth Medical Center’s Radiation Oncology Department is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated board-certified Physicist for a full time position to join medical physics and dosimetry team to support daily clinical physics services. The department operates in two clinical sites at both Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus (Dover, DE) and Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus (Milford, DE) with three Varian linear accelerators. HDR brachytherapy is also offered for breast and GYN patients. The individual will work in a dynamic multidisciplinary team environment. The medical physics division consists of 3 physicists, and 2 dosimetrists. Bayhealth Medical Center operates Varian linear accelerators (TrueBeam, Vital Beam, and Trilogy), 2 4D CT-Simulator units, and a Varian GammaMed HDR afterloader. The department is using centralized Varian ARIA and Eclipse treatment planning in Citrix environment.
Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Physics is required
- 2 years of radiation physics directly related work experience required
- PhD (preferred)
- ABR certified (preferred)
- 4-5 yrs experience in Clinical medical physics (preferred)
Responsibilities include:
- Performing periodic calibrations and quality assurance tests on linear accelerators, CTsim, therapy treatment planning systems and dosimetry equipment.
- Evaluating patient treatment setups, assisting with patient simulations and design / fabrication of treatment devices.
- Performing calculations and measurements to institute new treatment/imaging techniques and to investigate in greater detail established techniques
- Performing SBRT/SRT plans as needed
- Performing patient chart checks/review assuring the accuracy of treatment planning and EMR data.
- Performing and evaluating specialized treatment QA procedures.
- Participating in the Quality Management Program and Process Improvements
- Performing HDR QA and plans and assisting the Radiation Oncologist in brachytherapy procedures
- Reviewing the calculation record and verifying of I-131 therapy
- Performing and evaluating specialized treatment QA procedures
