The Medical Physicist supervises the Dosimetrists and Radiation Therapists in treatment planning and devises methods to apply laws and theories of physics to radiation medicine. We have several centers in the area offering linac-based therapy, Tomotherapy, and brachytherapy (seed-based and HDR). The Medical Physicist will have the chance to contribute to our active SRS/SBRT program, use some of the latest industry treatment and calibration equipment, and work with a close-knit team of experienced physicists.
Coordinates and follows up on activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors and team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assists with treatment planning using externally delivered radiation as well as use of internally implanted radioactive sources.
Assists with calibration and maintenance of therapy units, radiation sources, and other relevant major equipment to sustain efficient and accurate operation.
Assists with generating proper records and correspondence pertaining to quality control and quality assurance, calibration, radiation safety and compliance with state and federal regulations and standards of accrediting bodies.
Actively participates in patient chart checks [initial, continuing, and final] and treatment plan reviews, image fusion, dose calculation verifications, and special physics consultations as requested by physicians.
Keeps abreast of new scientific methods and developments.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree or equivalent and medical physics are related field. ABR certification or board eligibility with the ABR.
Specifically demonstrates understanding of medical physics in radiation oncology.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS
Certification by the American Board of Radiology or American Board of Medical Physics in Therapeutic Medical Physics. [Will consider Board Eligible applicants who will be Board Certified within two years of hire.]
License to practice Therapeutic Radiological Physics in the State of California or the ability to obtain a license before starting work.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of: Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook Communication Management software, Word, and Excel. Experience with Internet usage, PC and/or MAC and Windows.
