The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Arthur G. James Cancer Center and Richard L. Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio is currently seeking multiple Staff Medical Physicists to join our growing Medical Physics team consisting of 40 Faculty/Staff medical physicists, 4 MPA's, 4 physics residents, and 28 dosimetrists. Candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.S. in Medical Physics, be certified by the ABR, or complete certification within 3 years of hire. The positions for this advertisement are being recruited for our Main Campus and West Campus Locations for supporting our photon or proton clinics as assigned. Previous proton training and experience is desirable for the proton positions, but not required. Experienced Physicists and upcoming new graduates in residency are welcome to apply.
The OSU Department of Radiation Oncology offers state of the art equipment in our Main Campus, Comprehensive Breast Center, and recently opened West Campus Ambulatory Clinic. Our Main Campus and Breast Center equipment includes 8 Varian Truebeam accelerators (3 Truebeam Edge's), a Varian Ethos system, a second generation Mobetron Intra-operative accelerator, a Gamma Knife Icon unit, GE 4DCT and Siemens CT simulators, MRI Simulator, Varian Eclipse TPS, with BrachyVision and Variseed, a Varian Bravos HDR System in an integrated Brachytherapy suite with a mobile CT and MRI integration, ARIA Record and Verification and E Charting environment. A radiation oncology International Training Center with a dedicated Truebeam and Aria/Eclipse environment has been operational for a few years. Our West Campus operation includes a Varian Probeam 360 multi-room system with 2 Gantries and a fixed beam room with Flash research capability, as well as a Truebeam Edge, 2 Dual Energy CT Sims and MR Sim. The department is also expanding by adding a Reflexion X1 system at our West Campus location this year, as well as replacing several linacs and upgrading Gamma Knife.
Responsibilities include development and execution of QA programs, new treatment techniques, acquisition and implementation of new equipment, IMRT/IMPT, 3D Conformal, and SBRT treatment planning with Eclipse and Raystation, Brachytherapy and Gamma Knife procedure support, development and participation in Clinical Trials, and clinical project and other development efforts. Teaching of Radiation Therapy Students, Radiation Oncology Residents, Medical Physics Residents, and University Graduate classes is also an important part of the job.
The Ohio State University, Department of Radiation Oncology supports the James Cancer Hospital, the Stephanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center, West Campus Ambulatory and the University Hospitals, as well as James Network locations, and treats over 250 patients per day in a strong multimodality program, including radiosurgery, intraoperative radiotherapy, brachytherapy, pediatric oncology, and a comprehensive breast center. The department currently has 28 Radiation Oncologists, 11 Medical Residents and over 60 Radiation Therapists. Additional expansions of services are being planned.
