The Division of Medical Physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking an academically oriented Medical Physicist with clinical skills to join our Medical Physics team. The Department of Radiation Oncology, which is part of the NCI-designated University of Colorado Comprehensive Cancer Center currently has 14 physics faculty, 12 radiation oncology faculty, 9 dosimetrists, 7 radiation oncology residents, 2 medical physics residents, 1 medical physics assistant, 3 postdoctoral fellows, and 2 IT staff members.
The Medical Physics Division provides clinical physics support at the University of Colorado Hospital and 4 UCHealth Radiation Oncology Clinics in the Metro Denver area. The division is responsible for 8 linear accelerators, Gamma Knife, HDR, 4 CT simulators, and a PET/CT simulator. The department has a fully integrated Eclipse treatment planning system, ARIA, and EPIC and uses an electronic charting system for all clinics. Duties will include general clinical coverage and QA as well as support for special procedures, including VMAT/IMRT, IGRT, SRS/SBRT, HDR/LDR, TBI/TSI and SGRT. Ideal candidates should hold a PhD in medical physics, physics, engineering or related field and either be ABR-certified or ABR-eligible with a minimum of 2-year clinical experience. Salary and the faculty appointment rank are commensurate with the individual’s experience and qualifications. This position requires a well?trained individual who has excellent interpersonal skills, strong motivation to provide excellent clinical physics support, solid commitment to participate in teaching activities, and strong interest to work on research and development projects in a dynamic and collegial environment. The physics faculty members are currently working on a wide-range of projects in the areas of CBCT, X-ray acoustic CT, Compton scatter imaging, surface brachytherapy, computer vison in RT, AI, and dose-response modeling.
