The solo Medical Physicist responsibilities include clinical support providing technical expertise in the safe and efficacious use of radiation in the treatment of appropriate conditions and malignant disease. Performs and oversees the calibration and maintenance of therapeutic delivery systems (i.e. linear accelerator, CT, TPS etc.); measure and generate radiation dose distributions and calculations; engaged in the design, optimization, technical evaluation and delivery of radiotherapy treatment plans; serve as the radiation safety officer to ensure radiation protection of patients and staff.
Job Responsibilities
Development and management of Quality Management Program of all therapeutic delivery systems, including linear accelerators (Varian TrueBeam), CT simulator (Siemens), physics equipment (ArcCHECK, DoseLab TG-142, RadCalc, BeamChecker Plus, PTW MP3 water tank), record and verification/patient information management systems (MOSAIQ V 2.86.) and Varian Eclipse-V18. Required knowledge of current best practices that relate to compliance with regulatory and administrative requirements for radiation safety, for accreditation (American College of Radiology in Radiation Oncology), and for agencies responsible for public health and safety in Oregon. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, to write policies and procedures and keep up with industry changes, to exercise diplomacy in dealing with others, to secure cooperation from colleagues, and to communicate effectively with patients and medical staff. Ability to think and work independently and collaborate with the radiation oncology team (radiation oncologists, dosimetrists and radiation therapists) to obtain optimal treatment options.
Master’s in medical physics (5 year minimum)
Certification in American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Therapeutic Radiological Physics or American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) in Radiation Oncology Physics required.
Treatment Planning: Proficient with Eclipse TPS for the following: Rapid Arc, IGRT, SBRT, IMRT, and 3D required
Experience and understanding of physics equipment: MapCHECK, ArcCHECK, 3D & 2D Water tank, BeamChecker, BeamCheckerPlus, and IC profiler
Experience of use of MOSAIQ EMR, RadCalc, and Doselab preferred
Will serve as the Radiation Safety Officer and will facilitate the Radiation Safety Committee meetings.
Ability to sit for long periods of time carrying out physic duties and to lift/position QA equipment.
