The Upstate Cancer Center at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, is seeking a motivated Faculty Medical Physicist (assistant/associate professor) to join our exciting and growing ACR accredited Radiation Oncology Department. This position is clinically focused with responsibilities including clinical physics services for external beam radiation therapy that includes IGRT, RGSC, SBRT, as well as SRS with Gamma Knife and HDR-LDR brachytherapy. The individual is required to be involved in research and educational services in support of the mission of SUNY Upstate Medical University.
The successful candidate will join a Radiation Oncology team consists of 10 physicians, 6 physicists (5 PhD), 6 medical residents, and 6 dosimetrists providing services to 4 facilities, including the main campus in downtown Syracuse. The team treats approximately 125 patients per day. Major treatment equipment includes 5 Linacs (4 TrueBeams, 1 Varian iX), 2 big bore CT-Simulators, one Xoft IORT, one HDR Brachytherapy Unit (Varian Bravos), LDR Brachytherapy program (prostate seed implantation and GammaTile), one Gamma Knife, and in the process of acquiring an MRI simulator. Upstate Cancer Center is an active member of the RTOG/NRG and participates in various cooperative groups for clinical trials.

Interested candidates will possess the following:
PhD in Medical Physics, Physics, Engineering, or related basic science.
New York State license (or eligible) in Therapeutic Radiological Medical Physics.
ABR certified in Therapeutic Radiological Physics.
Experience with Varian’s TrueBeam, Eclipse TPS, and ARIA R&V system is preferred.
