Requirements:
Master's degree in in Medical Physics, Physics, Radiation Biology or related field.
Completed residency.
ADDITIONAL POSITION LEVEL REQUIREMENTS: Board eligible with completion of board certification within 3 years or QMP.
Summary:
Implements and monitors a radiation safety program to protect patients, personnel, and the public from unsafe radiation exposure.
Responsibilities:
Provides radiation safety education by presenting lectures, staff training, and consultation to ensure the safe use of medical radiation. Collaborates with dosimetrist and radiation oncologist to develop radiation therapy treatment plans.
Develops and monitors protocols and policies to ensure accurate patient dosimetry. Performs and monitors imaging equipment testing and calibration.
Develops and implements appropriate shielding designs, frequent surveys, and routine exposure monitoring.
Develops, implements, and monitors the organization's radiation safety program and ensures the program's compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Department of Radiation Oncology at Memorial Hospital functions as a tightly knit team, serving both Memorial Hospital Central and Memorial Hospital North in Colorado Springs. Current equipment includes ARIA, Eclipse, Velocity, TrueBeam (both 120 and HD-MLC) with Vision RT, Siemens CT, and Nucletron HDR afterloader.
