Position Description:
The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City is seeking a dedicated Staff or Faculty Physicist to join our esteemed team at downtown locations. These positions offer an exciting opportunity to participate in innovative, state-of-the-art clinical services, research, and teaching activities. Clinical service responsibilities include treatment planning, physics consults, routine quality assurance (e.g., machine QA and chart checks), and special procedures such as LDR, HDR, eye plaques, Xofigo, and SRS/SBRT. Research opportunities encompass areas such as AI/deep learning and adaptive radiotherapy. Our teaching efforts extend across several education programs, including radiation oncology, medical physics residency programs, and dosimetrist and therapist schools.
Facility and Equipment:
The successful candidates will join an advanced department at the Mount Sinai Health System, consisting of 31 radiation oncologists, 19 physicists, and 13 dosimetrists, providing care to over 200 patients daily across 5 sites. These positions are based at The Mount Sinai Hospital’s downtown Manhattan locations (Union Square and Chelsea). Our department is equipped with state-of-the-art treatment devices, including 12 Varian Linacs, ZEISS IORT, Brainlab Elements and Eclipse treatment planning systems, MOSAIQ EMR, Elekta and Varian HDR Afterloader, Oncentra, ExacTrac, and VisionRT. Mount Sinai is also a partner of the New York Proton Consortium, with an Elekta MRI Linac scheduled for installation in 2025.
Qualifications:
Candidates should hold a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Medical Physics or related field, along with board certification. Candidates must possess, or be eligible for, a New York State Radiological Therapeutic Medical Physics license. The Mount Sinai Health System adheres to the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements and provides a salary range. The salary range for the positions is $190K - $320K annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and the specific needs of the hospital. The salary range or contractual rate mentioned does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. This position falls under the Non-Bargaining Unit, BVE - Radiology Oncology category at Union Square – Downtown.
