Brown University / Rhode Island Hospital is seeking qualified applicants for a position within our CAMPEP-accredited residency program. The program is housed within the Lifespan Cancer Institute at Rhode Island Hospital, which is the primary academic affiliate of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. The Department of Radiation Oncology has a three-fold mission: providing high quality and safe care to patients, educating the next generation of clinicians and medical physicists, and advancing medicine through research. The department’s physics faculty hold appointments at the Brown University Warren Alpert School of Medicine and support clinically-focused research programs.
Our residency program has a total of two residents. We have nine radiation oncologists, eleven faculty/staff medical physicists, seven radiation dosimetrists, and one department IT administrator. Our physics faculty is expected to participate in the mentorship and teaching of our resident trainees as well as research. In addition to our CAMPEP-accredited Medical Physics Residency Program, the medical physics faculty are full participants in the CAMPEP-accredited Medical Physics Graduate Program, Radiation Oncology Physician Residency Program, and the Dosimetry Training Program.
Interested candidates should send a personal statement, curriculum vitae (CV), recent transcripts, and 3 letters of recommendation to our Program Coordinator, Tiffany Todman (ttodman@lifespan.org). Additional information about the application process and the program can be found at https://physicsresidency.med.brown.edu/. Applications must be received by December 15, 2023. Interviews with selected applicants will be scheduled in the January-February 2024 timeframe. Offers will be extended no later than early March 2024 for an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024.
Our program benefits include full health insurance and dental insurance as well as various forms of life insurance. The medical physics resident salaries are the same as the physician resident salaries at the PGY1 and PGY2 levels. For fiscal year 2023, our program's first-year (PGY1) resident salary is $66,840.78.
