A full-time medical physics position is immediately available for an experienced Clinical Medical Physicist at UPMC/John P. Murtha Regional Cancer Center, Johnstown, PA.
The center is one of 22 Cancer Centers of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center network and its medical physics operations are supported by the Medical Physics Division of the Department of Radiation Oncology, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. The center is equipped with Varian 23EX with onboard kV imaging, cone-beam CT, and gated RapidArc delivery capabilities. Eclipse RTP with Aria R&V system is used for treatment planning and record and verification. Primary responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to regular quality assurance testing and dosimetry calibration of radiation therapy equipment; dosimetry and clinical implementation of intensity-modulated radiation therapy, and implementation of 4D CT and gated radiation therapy. The Medical Physics Division’s goal has been to expand its strong clinical program in physics with an emphasis on IMRT, IGRT with CBCT/OBI, 4D CT, and organ motion management.
The successful candidate should have demonstrated clinical skills in these areas and is expected to function independently with excellent oral and written communication skills. The Board certification and at least three years of clinical experience are preferred.
Facility and Equipment:
UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is a leading organization in the nation in conducting academic research and clinical implementation of various state-of-the-art technologies in radiation therapy. The network’s Cancer Centers are equipped predominantly with Varian linear accelerators with onboard kV imaging and cone beam CT capabilities and with Elekta Linear accelerators, EPID imaging is available for all the linear accelerators. Other equipment includes Philips and GE CT units and PET/CT simulators (with the 4D capability), Gamma Knife units, RefleXion X1, Eclipse treatment planning systems, Nucletron HDR systems, and ARiA and Mosaiq information management systems. Treatment planning is integrated at most sites allowing for connectivity and remote planning.

Qualifications:
Required – M.S. or Ph.D. Degree in Physics or Medical Physics; ABR/ABMP Certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics or Therapeutic Radiology is preferred but not required.
