Alta Bates Summit Medical Center (ABSMC) is pleased to announce a full-time Chief Physicist position in the beautiful East Bay. This position is based in our Comprehensive Cancer Center in Berkeley, CA. The board-certified candidate will oversee all clinical medical physics services provided in the cancer center. Provides technical and consultative services in the areas of patient radiation safety, treatment planning, machine/radioactive source calibration, and technological advancements for department growth. Actively involved in clinical, and educational development, and advancing the research missions of the department, with an emphasis on assisting in developing and implementing new technologies. Oversees the maintenance, standardization and advancement of radiation safety, treatment planning and delivery and Quality Assurance programs. Manages the dosimetrists and physicists in the group in terms of their technical abilities and contributions. Helps perform physics tasks on a continual basis and dosimetry tasks when needed.
The ideal candidate should have excellent leadership experience that is demonstrated through interpersonal and oral/written communication skills. Expertise with Aria, Eclipse, Radiosurgery, Stereotactic Radiosurgery, Remote Planning, Interstitial Brachytherapy, and Intracavitary Brachytherapy is essential. Advanced knowledge of Varian accelerator ExacTrac CT Simulator High Dose Rate Brachytherapy preferred Eclipse Treatment planning system. Promotes a culture of consistency and safety.
Facility and Equipment:
ABSMC Radiation Oncology is housed primarily at the Comprehensive Cancer Center in Berkeley. The facility operates 2 accelerators, 1 Siemens Somatom CT-Sims, one Varian GammaMed HDR afterloader, two BrainLab Exactracs, one Superficial machine, one Zeiss Intrabeam, and a DYNR SDX. The clinic operates on Epic and Aria for Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Oncology Information System (OIS), respectively and Eclipse treatment planning system. Our team consist of 2 Dosimetrists, 2 Physicists, and 5 Radiation Oncologists. Current projects include one linac replacement, automated plan and chart checking, and ACR reaccreditation.
