The Department of Radiation Oncology has one faculty position open for medical physicist to participate in clinical, research, and teaching programs. This is an open rank role, and an appointment will be determined (Instructor, Assistant/Associate Professor) based on qualifications. Successful candidates for this faculty position must have a Master’s Degree as a minimum in Medical Physics, Physics or equivalent field and are preferred to graduate from a medical physics residency training program with working experience in intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) along with image guidance. Candidates with treatment planning skills in SBRT, HDR brachytherapy and Gamma Knife will be preferred. Personal skills such as initiative, problem-solving and teamwork are required. The ideal candidate should have strong technical, excellent verbal and written communications skills. The ABR certification is preferred.
The department currently has three Elekta Linacs fully loaded with on-board imaging, cone-beam CT and VMAT capability, six degrees adjustable hexapod couch is equipped with two LINACs. We use RayStation v.11B for external beam treatment planning and Elekta Mosaiq 2.64 for record and verification system. Treatment modalities include Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)/Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) with image guidance, 3D Conformal Radiation Therapy, Total Body Irradiation (TBI), Electron Therapy, Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Fractionated Radiotherapy (SFRT) with a Gamma Knife Icon, High Dose-Rate Radiation Therapy (Elekta Flexitro HDR treatment unit), Low Dose Rate Eye Plaque Treatment. Zeiss Intrabeam 600 is used for a busy IORT program.
