We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Physicist to join our growing radiation oncology practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and accurate delivery of radiation therapy treatments using Elekta and Varian equipment. In addition, they will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and participate in the implementation of the latest treatment techniques. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform routine quality assurance checks on radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, CT simulators, and treatment planning systems.
Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the radiation oncologists and dosimetrists.
Provide technical expertise and support for the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy treatments.
Participate in the implementation of new treatment techniques and technologies, such as VMAT, SBRT, and adaptive therapy.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of all aspects of the radiation therapy process, including patient treatments, quality assurance checks, and equipment maintenance.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including those set forth by the NRC and state health departments.
Provide education and training to radiation therapy staff on the safe and effective use of radiation therapy equipment and techniques.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists, to ensure the highest quality patient care.
Conducts HDR (high dose rate) brachytherapy procedures as needed.
Will work with the chief medical physicist to direct the radiation oncology physics program, including the technical direction of medical dosimetrists, therapy equipment service engineers and other physics support staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree or PhD in Medical Physics or a related field.
Board certification or eligibility in therapeutic medical physics from the ABR.
Preferred experience working with Elekta and Varian equipment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred familiarity with treatment planning systems, such as Eclipse and Monaco.
Understanding of radiation safety principles and regulations.
Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training.
POSITION
This Medical Physicist position will be within our practice that is currently in efforts to expand to a second site. Our main site has a TrueBeam and newly installed Halcyon linear accelerators as well as a Bravos HDR afterloader and GE CT simulator. We are currently treating with a variety of modalities/technologies including electron, 3D, IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS, surface guidance, breath-hold, gated treatments, and HDR. The 2nd site currently has a single Elekta liner accelerator with plans to upgrade the equipment in the near future. This position will have the opportunity to lead that effort under the direction of the Chief Medical Physicist and support staff.
