A full-time position is immediately available for a Medical Physicist at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Erie, PA. The UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Erie strongly focuses on bringing state-of-the-art treatments to patients in the region. Primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to, regular quality assurance testing of radiotherapy equipment and treatment delivery processes, dosimetric calibration of radiation therapy equipment, SRS/SBRT and IMRT treatment planning and delivery, and oversight of 4D-CT and gated radiation therapy, and various types of brachytherapy procedures. Active participation in clinical and developmental research projects is encouraged.
The successful candidate will join the chief physicist and two dosimetrists in this progressive, technologically advanced Cancer Center and more than 30 physicists across the UPMC network. He/she will have the full support of the Medical Physics Division. The Division’s goal is to scale advanced techniques across the network to enable high-quality care close to patients’ homes. The successful candidate should have demonstrated clinical skills and is expected to function independently with excellent oral and written communication skills. Board certification and at least three years of clinical experience are preferred but not required, and we encourage early-career physicists to apply.

UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Erie, PA is a large free standing, multi-disciplinary community Cancer Center and is part of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center network, which is a leading organization in conducting academic research and clinical implementation of state-of-the-art technologies in radiation therapy. This is an outstanding opportunity to participate in the practical application of clinical advancements in the field of medical physics. Technologies that are currently in use at the center include 2 Linear accelerators (Varian Edge and Trilogy (due to be replaced in 2015 with another Varian TrueBeam linacs); EPID, OBI/CBCT imaging, RapidArc, BrainLab ExacTrac, and respiratory gating; HDR brachytherapy (Mainly Cylinder); GE Discovery PET/CT and GE CT scanner; Treatment planning and Record /Verify systems: Varian Eclipse and ARiA RV.

Qualification:
Required – M.S. or Ph.D. Degree in Physics or Medical Physics. ABR/ABMP Certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics or Therapeutic Radiology is preferred but not required.
