The Oklahoma Proton Center (OPC) has an immediate opening for a full-time medical physicist position in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The OPC provides proton therarpy with a four-room IBA ProteusPLUS system, external photon therapy with Tomotherapy units at two satellite facilities and LDR prostate brachytherapy. RayStation is being used for both proton and tomo planning. The candidate will join the team of 4 physicists, 4 dosimetrists, and 1 medical physicist assistant. We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented applicants who are looking for working in collaborative team environments. Board eligible new/recent graduated residents are welcome to apply. The senior physicists who are interested in academic endeavors are welcome to apply to serve as director of medical physics research and/or director of residency program. Signing bonus, protected research/development time and flexible working schedule are negotiable commensurate with experience.
The Medical Physicist reports to Director of Medical Physics and Dosimetry and is responsible for the general medical physics duties pertaining to operating a radiotherapy clinic. This includes complex treatment planning, patient positioning, radiation protection, machine, and patient specific quality assurance in close collaboration with therapists, physicians and dosimetrists. The Medical Physicist will have opportunity to participate in the acceptance testing and commissioning of the proton/photon therapy equipment according to industry standards and federal, state, and local regulation. The Medical Physicist will work closely with partner radiotherapy providers and be involved with training new team members as well as research and development projects.
Work Experience Requirements:
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Medical Physics or related fields with 2 or more years of clinical medical physics experience or completed CAMPEP certified medical physics residency in radiation oncology.
Prior experience with proton therapy is preferred but not required.
ABR / ABMP Board certified or eligible with a current knowledge of Regulatory and Review Agencies.
Strong communication skills – both orally and in writing are required and demonstrable success in a busy clinic or hospital setting.
Knowledge of Mosaiq EMR and Raystation planning system, especially scripting, highly preferred.
