The Department of Medical Physics at St. Peter's Health Partners is seeking a Radiation Oncology Physics Resident.  Our department is a clinical site for the 2 year McGill University CAMPEP accredited Medical Physics Residency Program in which the successful candidate will be enrolled.  A detailed curriculum description of our program can be found at https://www.mcgill.ca/medphys/residency

The Resident will join a collaborative and supportive group consisting of 4 Medical Physicists, 4 Radiation Oncologists, a Physics Residency Site Coordinator, and 3.5 Medical Dosimetrists. The successful candidate will be a full time employee of St. Peter's Health Partners in Albany NY and enrolled in the CAMPEP accredited 2-year Residency program at McGill University in Montreal. The Resident will have the opportunity to learn at both an excellent medium size clinic as well as a large university hospital with a state of the art facility. The Resident will participate via tele-conference in weekly residency sessions with colleagues at McGill and periodically travel (expenses will be reimbursed) to McGill for exams, presentations, practical training and additional learning opportunities. The successful candidate must be a graduate of a CAMPEP Medical Physics graduate program and able to travel between the US and Canada.

The Department of Medical Physics is part of the St. Peter’s Cancer Care Center and provides support to the Radiation Oncology Departments of two local hospitals: St.  Peter's Hospital which treats approximately 60 patients per day and has very active SRS, SBRT, and GYN HDR programs, and nearby Samaritan Hospital which treats approximately 20 patients per day with EBRT and SBRT.     Equipment at the SPH site includes a Varian 21 iX with OBI, Protura 6-DOF couch and AlignRT, a Varian iX SIL with OBI, fine beam isocenter, ExacTrac 6DOF couch and stereoscopic imaging, and one Elekta Nucletron remote afterloader. Sims are carried out on a Siemens Go.Sim platform with RGSC for 4D-CT. Software includes Eclipse (v15.6), Oncentra, Brainlab's iPlan and Multiple Mets, MIM, and MOSAIC R&V. 

The Samaritan site has a Varian True Beam 2.7 with OBI and perfect pitch 6 DOF couch and AlignRT.  Sims are performed on the Siemens Go.Sim platform with RGSC for 4D-CT. Software includes Eclipse/Aria (v16) with MCO and RapidPlan.

Albany is the capital of New York State and is located on the west bank of the Hudson River, about 150 miles North of New York City, and 170 miles West of Boston. Albany and the greater Capital District have many attractive qualities which make it a great place to live. There is affordable housing and an excellent school system. There are several local parks to pursue outdoor pastimes with the Adirondack Park, Saratoga Springs, Lake George, and Catskill Mountain Parks  just short drives away. The warm weather brings horse racing to Saratoga Springs, farmers markets all over the area, and outdoor music by the Hudson River. During the snowy months, there are numerous excellent ski areas within a short drive. Shows and events at The Egg, The Palace, Proctors Theater, the Joe Bruno Stadium, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, The Lake George Music Festival, and the Times Union Center provides plenty of culture and entertainment.
