The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders is accepting applications for a Staff Physicist position. The Center is a progressive and community-based physician owned practice with multiple sites located in and around the Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex. The Center is a member practice of the One Oncology Alliance and has a long history of patient-centered care delivery. Comprised of ~400 employees, the practice includes ~35 physicians, ~15 advanced practitioners and ~15 geographic sites of service. Radiation services are available at 6 of these sites. Service lines include Hematology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Integrative Medicine, and numerous supportive service lines. The Center also includes a robust imaging program inclusive of PET/CT, MRI, NucMed, CT, X-Ray and Ultrasound. Additionally, The Center provides Physics and Dosimetry coverage for Tarrant County’s two accelerators at a nearby site.
Inclusive of the county facility, the Physics Department is responsible for 8 linacs, 2 HDR units, and a CyberKnife unit; these are spread across 7 sites of service. The Center is in the process of upgrading all linear accelerators to the TrueBeam platform. Two units have already been installed and the next is scheduled for summer 2023. In the near future The Center will be adding a RefleXion unit to the current suite of delivery systems.
The ideal candidate is expected to integrate into and fill an open position within an established group of 7 physicists, 5 dosimetrists, 4 radiation oncologists, referring physicians, and other clinical and non-clinical staff. Efficiency, organization, communication skills, professional capability, and a willingness to participate in a team environment are expected. Candidates will be expected to be proficient in routine clinical duties as well as demonstrate an ability to work independently within their scope and skills. Experience with Varian/Aria/Eclipse, HDR, SRS/SBRT, and the TrueBeam platform is also of value. Post residency candidates through 5 years of experience would be ideally suited.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the commissioning of our new TrueBeam linacs, get to experience the installation and commissioning of a RefleXion unit, join an experienced and diverse group of physicists, and help contribute to the ongoing development of programs. A full suite of QA tools inclusive of Mapcheck, Arccheck, SRS Mapcheck, SNC 3D tank, Winston-Lutz, i-RT’s IQM tools, and various electrometer/chamber setups is available to support workflow.
