Murray-Calloway County Hospital (MCCH) is seeking a full-time radiation oncology medical physicist for our new cancer center. This brand-new facility, opening summer 2023, will be onsite at MCCH with one radiation oncologist on staff and one onsite dosimetrist. A new Varian TrueBeam is scheduled to be installed in March/April 2023. Ideal candidates are self-motivated individuals seeking to constantly review and modify existing protocols/practices in an effort to optimize both clinic workflow and patient safety. Our smaller department size allows us to be more nimble and adaptable as we look to bring innovation and newer technologies to the region. A strong physics presence will be integral for our growth as a program.
Job Summary
This role leads assigned staff in performing activities or tasks in radiation therapy services. This role also supports all physics aspects of patient treatment including consultation with radiation oncologists, calculation of radiation doses, treatment planning, design and fabrication of treatment, aids and assurance of the accuracy of all treatment parameters. All services are for external beam radiotherapy only.
Requirements:
Education and work experience:
MS or Ph.D. in medical physics required.
Certification by the American Board of Radiology or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years experienceas a clinical medical physicist within a radiation oncology setting required.
Technical competencies:
Experience with Varian's Aria/Eclipse environment preferred.
Treatment planning and QA forimage-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3DCRT), intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT).
Experience with surface-guided radiotherapy (SGRT) preferred but not required.
