Are you ready to begin or continue your medical physics career at a leading academic medical center in one of America’s most vibrant cities? The Thomas Jefferson University / Sidney Kimmel Medical College Department of Radiology is recruiting a full time ABR-certified or eligible Diagnostic Medical Physicist. This position is ideal for a well-rounded person with strong written and verbal communication skills and a curiosity to explore the full diversity of contemporary medical imaging. Our medical physics program touches all imaging modalities and has both clinical and educational components, with opportunities to pursue applied research. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated the ability to provide clinical medical imaging physics services along with teaching and scholarly activity. Clinical responsibilities include performance evaluations of imaging modalities, radiation shielding assessment/design and evaluation, patient dosimetry, radiation dose index management, imaging protocol management, and communication of radiation risks and benefits. This requires close interaction with staff including imaging technologists, radiologists, non-radiologist providers, and service engineers. Oversight of quality assurance and performance improvement programs are among the physicist’s most important duties. The incumbent candidate will participate in resident and medical student education. Scholarly activity in the candidate’s areas of interest is encouraged. The imaging physicists work closely with health physicist colleagues who handle most of the radiation safety responsibilities, as well as physician colleagues in Radiology, Cardiology, and many other medical specialties within our health system that use imaging for diagnosis and treatment. Academic rank, compensation and appointment type will be based on qualifications and experience.
