Sanford Health is seeking an HDR Physicist in the Radiation Oncology Department at the Sanford Cancer Center in Sioux Falls, SD. The successful candidate will serve as the lead physicist for the development of an Interstitial HDR brachytherapy program. Certification in radiation oncology physics is required as well as HDR experience and AMP status on a RAM license. Aria, Eclipse and BrachyVision experience are preferred.
The department has four radiation oncologists and four dosimetrists. While the primary project responsibility for the position will be HDR brachytherapy, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of a modern image-guided external beam photon therapy clinic. Clinical physics duties are shared by two additional Physicists and a Director of Physics (4 total physicists).
Department equipment consists of a Varian GammaMed Plus iX HDR unit, a TrueBeam STx and a TomoTherapy Hi-Art, with a third TrueBeam currently being installed. Department software includes Aria/Eclipse 16.1 in a Citrix environment with all new FAS/GPU's, RapidArc, RapidPlan and MCO. Portal Dosimetry is used for routine IMRT QA. RadCalc and Velocity along with ClearCheck, AutoContour and EZFluence from Radformation are used. A GE Optima CT scanner is used for simulations. QA equipment is primarily Sun Nuclear with SunCHECK/DoseCHECK software with 3DS and 1DS water tanks, IC Profiler, ArcCHECK and DQA3 hardware.
Job Summary
Provides consultation services to physicians and staff regarding the use of radiation to obtain quality diagnostic images. Oversees the use of radiation in diagnostic imaging and/or radiation oncology for the Sanford system to ensure safety and compliance with professional accreditations as well as state and federal requirements. Helps install printers, computers, and other technology related to the clinic (i.e., CT, simulation, setups, fabricate materials). Utilizes knowledge of physics and technology as a resource when consulting with physicians. Possesses an understanding of radiological fields.
