Mayo Clinic is seeking a Clinical Medical Physicist to join our regional photon group practice in Albert Lea MN.
Position: The primary responsibilities of our regional clinical medical physics staff are to support our clinical practice at the regional clinics: ensure that patients receive the prescribed dose of radiation to the correct location safely and effectively, to implement new technologies and treatment procedures, and to manage and participate in a robust quality program.
Provide technical assistance and clinical support to the Radiation Oncology team at Albert Lea.
Provide cross-coverage to other regional sites (remote and on-site as needed) to cover absences such as vacations, etc.
Implement current Federal, State, and Institutional safety guidelines applicable to the regional site.
Opportunities exist to collaborate with physicists from the other regional sites and main site in Rochester MN on clinical and research projects that benefit the Mayo Group Practice.
Clinic Facilities: The Albert Lea clinic is part of Mayo regional practice that also includes clinics in Mankato and Northfield MN as well as Eau Claire and LaCrosse WI. The Albert Lea clinic maintains a Varian Truebeam Linac and a GE CT Simulator. Throughout the Midwest Mayo Clinic system (MN and WI), EBRT treatment planning and R&V uses an integrated Eclipse/ARIA platform. All Truebeam Linacs are beam matched. A full complement of dosimetry and detector systems are available at all sites. Motion management utilizing DIBH and 4DCT are employed. EBRT techniques include 3D, VMAT, and SBRT.
The Medical Physics Regional group is comprised of 9 physicists with support from medical physicist assistants in Rochester as well as engineers and IT support. We are a seasoned and cohesive team responsible for all aspects of therapy physics in support of the clinical practice.

Qualifications

In addition:
M.S., M.M.P., D.M.P., or Ph.D. in Medical Physics, Physics, or a related field and meet one or both of the following requirements:
Board certification by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics (or Canadian equivalent).
If not board certified (including 2023 graduating residents who are encouraged to apply) completion of a CAMPEP approved residency program. We offer support for board certification including mock oral exams and reimbursement of board certification fees.
For all new hires we offer a robust 6 - 12 week training program. Prior experience with Varian technology, while desirable, is not required. Please indicate your non-immigrant status and if you will need assistance from Mayo Clinic to obtain work authorization.
