JOB OPPORTUNITY: MEDICAL PHYSICIST
UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO
ALBUQUERQUE, NM
The University of New Mexico is looking to fill a Medical Physicist position in Radiation Oncology. This position will be with the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center in Albuquerque, NM, the only New Mexico academic healthcare facility dedicated to both cancer research and patient care. We are one of just 51 cancer centers in the United States to achieve Comprehensive designation by the NCI.
We are seeking a motivated medical physicist to be part of a medical physics team consisting of four medical physicists and five medical dosimetrists led by a Director of Medical Physics.
The Cancer Center currently has three linear accelerators, and will be expanding to four linear accelerators and an MR linac in the next few years. The first Elekta Versa HD will be installed in the summer of 2023. In addition to the clinical responsibilities there is a significant teaching component, with participation in a CAMPEP approved Master’s program in the Department of Radiology. Building a radiation oncology CAMEP approved therapy residency program is also in the initial phases. Research opportunities are available for interested candidates. Faculty appointments will be considered for qualified PhD candidates.

Education/Qualifications:
· Ph.D. or MSc degree in Medical Physics
· ABR certification required.
The ideal candidate should have strong technical and communication skills along with an interest in translational research and teaching. Enthusiasm about innovation, process improvement and patient safety are necessary as well. We take pride in our hard work but we also take time to enjoy our personal lives outside concrete vaults.
