Nuvance Health has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Radiology Oncology Physicist working in Danbury, CT. Radiation Oncology is split into an East and a West division, formerly known as Western Connecticut Health Network and Health Quest. Nuvance East includes Danbury, New Milford, and Norwalk Hospitals in Connecticut. We have 5 linear accelerators across the three sites and also offer HDR, LDR, and orthovoltage treatments. The Nuvance East Physics team currently consists of 5 physicists and 5 dosimetrists, and the open Physicist position in Danbury is a newly created role to add to this group. Nuvance as a network prioritizes its support for Radiation Oncology and we are well into the process of upgrading equipment, implementing new technology, and unifying workflows. Summary:
Accurately monitors and controls the use of radiation for the treatment of patients. Provides physics support to the radiology, nuclear medicine, and radiation oncology departments.
Responsibilities:
1. Performs regular review of patient treatment.
2. Assists in the development of specific treatment plans.
3. Verifies the accuracy of treatment.
4. Provides back up to Dosimetrists.
5. Maintains calibration and QA of treatment machines.
6. Provides physics consultation to department physicians.
7. Develops new protocols for treatment procedures.
8. Collects beam data for linear accelerators and ensures correct entry into treatment planning system in conjunction with other members of physics staff.
9. Introduces new technology to staff in radiation oncology.
10. Implements new protocols for patient treatments in radiation oncology.
11. Recommends and assists in buying of radiation producing equipment for Radiation Oncology.
12. Recommends purchases of radiation measuring equipment used for Radiation Oncology.
13. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- ABR Certified or ABR Board Eligible
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Required: Basic understanding of medical physics, anatomy, computers.
- Minimum Experience: three years
