Faculty Clinical Medical Physicist Opportunity in Hershey, PA
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Radiation Oncology at Penn State Health is seeking two Faculty Clinical Therapeutic Medical Physicists to join our Radiation Oncology Team. This is an exciting opportunity to join the faculty of a newly created department that is rapidly expanding and adapting new technologies. The Penn State Health therapeutic medical physics team consists of 9 physicists that provide clinical services over three locations. The successful candidates will enjoy the support and collaboration of our broadly experienced and welcoming team.
These positions will support the clinical radiation therapy physics services at the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center location in Hershey, PA. In this role, you will provide clinical services for both external beam (including IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, SBRT and SRS) and brachytherapy (LDR and HDR) programs to assure the safe, effective and accurate delivery of radiation therapy. You will also provide research and educational services in support of the institutional mission.
Academic Rank for these non-tenure positions will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Hershey location has a dedicated Siemens Go-Sim CT scanner, two Varian TrueBeam units, a Varian Clinac iX, a VariSource HDR, a ViewRay MRIdian, ARIA 16 EMR, Eclipse treatment planning system, MRIdian treatment planning system and MIM Maestro. All linacs have IMRT, VMAT and IGRT capabilities. The physics team also provides services for the Penn State Health Gamma Knife Program which houses a Gamma Knife Icon unit at the Hershey location.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- PhD in Medical Physics, Physics, Engineering or related basic science
- At least two years of clinical experience in radiation oncology physics
- Eligible for ABR/ABMP certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- ABR/ABMP certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics
- Experience with Varian software and equipment
- Experience with Elekta Gamma Knife
- Experience with MRI Linac technology
