The research labs of Dr. Daniel Robertson at Mayo Clinic and Dr. Sam Beddar at MD Anderson Cancer Center are seeking a postdoctoral fellow for work focusing on proton radiography. The research objective is the development of a scintillator-based detector and image formation methodology for integrating proton radiography, with applications in proton radiation therapy.  The fellowship position will be based in the Division of Radiation Physics, Department of Radiation Oncology, at Mayo Clinic’s Phoenix, Arizona campus.   

The fellow will be expected to make significant contributions to the development of integrating proton radiography technologies and to assist in discovery and clinical translation in this area.  This will include computational simulations, device construction, measurements, and data analysis, as well as presentation and publication of results.

The successful applicant will have a strong background in physics, having completed a Ph.D. in physics, medical physics, or a relevant engineering discipline.  Expertise in either image processing and reconstruction or Monte Carlo radiation transport is required, and experience in proton radiography is a great plus.  Computer programming or scripting skills are required (C++, Python, Matlab, or other), and experience with high-performance computing is desirable.  Experience with proton radiation physics and radiation measurements is a plus.  Good written and verbal English skills are also important, as is a strong publication track record.
