Carestream is looking for an exceptional radiography imaging scientist to join our advanced research and innovation team in Rochester, NY. We are a group of scientists with a passion for innovative and disruptive solutions that range from image acquisition to clinical workflow, image interpretation and patient management.
As a leader in medical X-Ray imaging systems and solutions, Carestream designs and build innovative radiographic detectors. In this role, you will work closely with a team of scientists with a fantastic track record of building products while also interacting with highly motivated clinical collaborators. Position Responsibilities:
You will take a leadership role in the development of next generation digital X-Ray detectors. Initiate, propose, and prototype innovative solutions to meet customer needs. Position requires performance analysis and conceptual design for low noise, large area, X-Ray detectors use in imaging applications. Activities may include circuit analysis, noise analysis, performance modelling, technology assessments and development of test protocols. Typically, the work requires a high level of interactions with Systems Team, Image Scientists, Product Development Team, and the Manufacturing Group.
Required Skills & Education:
- Master’s degree or PhD in experimental or medical physics, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or relevant fields
- Familiarity with state-of-the-art radiography detector technology, and experience in developing digital radiography detectors for digital X-Ray imaging systems.
- 5+ years' experience in digital radiography detector low-level design, characterization, optimization, and modeling (could include academic experience)
- Strong background in analog and digital circuity design.
- Experience in digital medical system imaging chain and performance evaluation
- Familiarity with recognized image quality metrics such as DQE, MTF, NPS
- Programming skill in MATLAB is required
- Proven track record of strong analytical skills, creative problem solving and innovation in medical X-Ray imaging field
- Systematic approach to problem solving and issue resolution combined with good understanding of the relevant technologies and their practical applications
- Demonstrated ability to provide technology leadership, strong project management and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a research team, and able to effectively interface with all project disciplines including Research, Product Development, Service Manufacturing, Regulatory, Marketing, Quality, External Customers, and Clinical Research Collaborators
- Self-starter and capable of working with minimal supervision. Ability to multi-task and provide expertise and leadership across multiple projects
- Excellent communications skills, written and verbal, and proven record of technical publications
- Willing to travel 5-10% of the time
Desired Skills:
- Experience with medical X-Ray imaging systems
- Familiarity working in a regulated environment.
- Experience with LabVIEW and C++ programming
- Knowledge and experience in embedded programing will be desired.
