We are seeking a Medical Physicist to join our Radiation Team at Water’s Edge Dermatology.  The Medical Physicist performs or supervises the pertinent procedures at our six linac based centers utilizing low energy beam therapy to treat superficial skin cancers.  This is a Solo Medical Physicist role assuring the safe and effective delivery of therapeutic radiation to treat skin cancers using electron beams.

Water’s Edge Dermatology is one of the only dermatology practices in Florida that offers non-surgical electron beam therapy (EBT) in an outpatient setting.  As Florida’s leading premier dermatology practice, we are dedicated to providing a VIP experience to all patients.

Essential Functions

• Establishes protocols to ensure accurate radiation dose, measured machine radiation output and quality of radiation beams.
• Develop and directs quality assurance programs to assure safe and accurate treatment delivery.
• Performs duties as a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) including but not limited to teaching staff and providers about electron beam therapy, linac safety and review of standard and emergency procedures.
• Responsible for maintaining the radiation safety utilizing film badges of radiation workers/employees through current vendor (Landauer). Provides surveys, reposts and consultation related to radiation safety for practice offices that meet organizational and regulatory standards.
• Calibrates and coordinates maintenance of physical equipment and machines (which are all under manufacturer service plans). Assists with commissioning of new equipment.  Reports quality assurance activities to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.
• Answers questions pertaining to physics and dosimetry and completes chart checks as part of continuous quality assurance program.
• Reviews charts weekly and reviews physics related procedures (ie. Microdosimetry, monitor unit calculations, SSD calculations, etc.).
• Responsible for all state inspections and tracking proper licensing for our machines and therapists.

Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in Medical Physics or related field from an accredited university
• Therapeutic Radiological Physicist License
• Prefer ABR Certification

Travel

Travel is expected between all radiation facilities for testing, calibration and maintenance monthly.
