The Radiation Physicist position is responsible for physics leadership and support in the Cancer Center on a day-to-day basis. Maintains all state and federal licensing guidelines and requirements. Commissions new equipment and serves as the Radiation Safety Officer for the radiotherapy service. Other duties as assigned

GENERAL INFORMATION

Education:  PhD and/or Masters Degree in Physics or related field.  RD (National),  License (State),  ABR board eligible. ABR Certification required within two years of hire.

Experience:  Three to four years clinical experience preferred. Strong background in the development of new radiation therapy techniques. Experience in 3D planning, IMRT dosimetry, and Brachytherapy services.  Effectively performs the duties associated with medical physics.
Performs accurate dose calculations, appropriate machine calibrations, monitors quality assurance issues with respect to the accelerators, simulator and treatment planning system.  Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement activities for the department. Communicates effectively both orally and in writing. Demonstrates good interpersonal skills with staff and patients.
