The Mayo Clinic Department of Radiology is recruiting a clinical Diagnostic Physicist to join our growing team in sunny Arizona. The clinical physicist will be involved in a broad range of activities that support both the specific and broader needs of the Division of Medical Physics and the Department of Radiology. The successful candidate will have an interest in fluoroscopy and interventional radiology or nuclear medicine. The clinical physicist will work under the direction of senior physicists and collaborate with physicians, physicists, and other healthcare workers within Mayo Clinic Arizona to support clinical imaging operations, safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
Representative Responsibilities:
- Evaluate diagnostic imaging equipment
- Optimize exam protocols and postprocessing
- Assist clinical innovation and development projects
- Act as a resource and provide technical support to Physicians and other Allied Healthcare colleagues
- Investigate and address software and hardware malfunctions
- Prepare regulatory submissions and reviews
Master's degree in Medical Physics or a related field such as physics, chemistry, computer science or engineering required. Two years experience in a clinical position under the supervision of a qualified medical physicist in a department of Radiology required.
- Programming experience in Python and/or data analysis is preferred, but not required
- Ability to work well in a cross-disciplinary team
- Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple priorities
Successful completion of Part I of American Board of Radiology (ABR), American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP), or equivalent certification required. Certification completion (successfully passing all three parts of the examination) required within the first three years of hire. Board certification in Diagnostic Medical Physics by the ABR and/or ABMP preferred. A qualified diagnostic imaging physicist means an individual who is certified and maintains certification by the ABR and/or ABMP in Diagnostic Medical Physics.
