Therapeutic Medical Physics Position at Montefiore Medical Center. Montefiore Medical Center has an opening within its Clinical Physics Service of the Division of Therapeutic Medical Physics. We are seeking a Therapeutic Medical Physicist with a strong clinical background and demonstrated ability and interest in high dose brachytherapy and intraoperative radiation therapy. The ideal candidate should have five to seven years of relevant clinical experience in the above-mentioned areas and should have a strong and demonstrated interest in program development and research. This position requires ABR certification, an unrestricted New York State License to practice Therapeutic Radiological Medical Physics, and a M.S. or Ph.D in Medical Physics or a closely related field. In addition, clinical expertise in IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, motion management, and SRS/SBRT is a definite plus. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing overall clinical coverage, and conducting clinical development under the department’s guidelines. The successful candidate will be joining a team consisting of nine attending physicists, four physics residents, and seven dosimetrists. Montefiore Medical Center has a large and cutting-edge program in all aspects of Therapeutic Medical Physics that seeks to improve the clinical effectiveness of radiation therapy in partnership with radiation oncologists, radiologists and other medical professionals. Many new programs in radiation therapy research and development are ongoing, including: the development and clinical use of predictive models (tumor control and normal tissue complication probability) in treatment planning, the integration of MR imaging into radiotherapy process and treatment planning, 4D imaging and motion management, and the development adaptive radiotherapy processes. Montefiore’s radiation oncology and medical physics resources include 6 linear accelerators (two True Beam, one Edge, two Trilogy, two 2100iX Varian Accelerators), one Accuray Hi-Art Tomotherapy, one Accuray Radixact, two Nucletron HDR machines and one GammaMed HDR machine across 5 locations, CT, MR and PET scanners for radiation oncology applications, as well as state-of-the-art inter- and intra-fractional imaging and motion management capabilities. We have a strong philosophy that all of our facilities provide outstanding treatment quality as well as contribute to the overall mission of the Health System to advance the state of cancer care.
