About University of Pennsylvania
The Radiation Oncology clinic, located in the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, includes five Varian linacs (3 Truebeams, 2 Halcyons), a Varian HDR unit installed alongside a Varian Acuity Simulator, two Siemens dual-energy CT simulators, a Siemens wide-bore MRI unit, and a Philips wide bore PET/CT unit. We provide a full range of radiation oncology services (IMRT, brachytherapy, TBI, SRS, and SBRT) and have an active development program in all aspects of radiotherapy physics. We are also active in photodynamic therapy research. The clinic has a hub-and-spoke model for deploying new clinical technologies across 15 network sites. The Roberts Proton Therapy Center opened in 2009 and is integrated with the photon therapy clinic. It houses the largest proton therapy facility in the USA, comprising four gantry treatment rooms, one fixed beam room, and a dedicated research room. The existing facility has been fully upgraded to the latest pencil beam scanning technology with in-room CBCT and motion management capabilities. Several single-room proton treatment centers are planned at Penn Network facilities, which will open in 2021.
