Diagnostic Medical Physicist Baystate Health, Springfield, MA The Diagnostic Medical Physicist supports all radiation imaging physics activities including clinical, quality assurance, safety and equipment maintenance, research and education components by performing both routine and non-routine support tasks under the general guidance using the concepts and techniques of applying physics to medicine and practical training of a medical physicist. The individual should be competent to practice medical imaging physics and maintain the professional skills through continuing education. The individual shall be available when necessary for consultation with the radiologist and to provide advice or direction. The individual should be competent to practice independently in medical physics. The incumbent will perform all manual and computer assisted quality control and quality assurance tasks and safety related activities The incumbent is responsible for compliance procedures to meet regulatory requirements of Joint Commission, Massachusetts Department of Public Health Radiation Control Program and various regulatory agencies under the global license of BH affiliated hospitals and office practice sites Capable and responsible for measuring the characterization of medical radiation from imaging equipment prior to clinical utilization Assist the Radiation Safety Officer in routine safety surveys including the release of radiation patients Assist the Radiation Safety Officer in performing routine procedures involving radioactive material in all facilities Knowledgeable of all Massachusetts Department of Health Department of Health Radiation Control Program Regulations Undergoing in-service training; learning subject matter as delineated in the syllabus; independent reading and literature review and other duties as assigned and approved by a supervisor Qualified applicants will have a Master of Arts (Required) with Board Certified in Medical Physics – American Board of Radiology YOU BELONG AT BAYSTATE.
