The Medical Physics and Biophysics Division is seeking a Clinical Physicist, preferably PhD level, ABR-eligible, to support the Radiation Oncology clinical physics operation and to pursue research and development with an emphasis on image-guided radiation therapy and brachytherapy.  The successful candidate will join a Physics staff of about 50 including 20 faculty physicists, and will contribute to daily routine physics operations, R&D and teaching.  An ideal candidate will have a strong clinical and research background and interest in image-guided radiation therapy and brachytherapy, MR-guided radiation treatment and MR-based simulation, adaptive radiation therapy, and stereotactic body radiation therapy. Additional R&D topics currently pursued include radiomics, data science and artificial intelligence; novel modes for radiation treatment including theranostic nano-particles; and DNA-biophysics for liquid-biopsy of cancer. The candidate should have a strong record of academic and/or clinical achievement. Leadership in the clinical implementation of innovative technologies and/or experience in complementary disciplines such as functional imaging are considered an advantage. Academic appointment at Harvard Medical School may be possible, for appropriately qualified candidates.

Facility and Equipment:

The Medical Physics and Biophysics Division currently provides services to the Department of Radiation Oncology, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and the Children’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School, as well as to the outreach Cancer Centers at Milford, South Shore, Mansfield and Bermuda Cancer Center. Facilities include 14 Varian linacs including 2 stereotactic linacs, an MR-linac, one MR-simulator, 2 HDR units with dedicated CT scanner, a Co-60 TBI unit and 8 CT-simulators.
