Medical Physics: Radiation Oncology, Medical Physics: Radiation Oncology Dosimetry
We are seeking a suitably qualified radiation oncology physicist to lead a highly motivated physics team in a supportive, friendly and enthusiastic environment. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the management team as we continue to provide a patient centric service of excellence. The centre has 4.4 FTE physicists, including the Chief Physicist, and a 1.0 FTE physics technician. This advertised position is full time.
As leader of the physics team, you will actively support all aspects of the radiation physics role including quality assurance, dosimetry, commissioning, advising on treatment planning techniques and lead development projects and research activities. The successful candidate will be eligible for ACPSEM accreditation or hold an equivalent registration or certification in radiation therapy physics in the UK, Europe or North America; hold a relevant postgraduate degree and have significant clinical radiation oncology experience in a New Zealand, Australian, UK or North American health care system.
ARO utilises some of the latest equipment in modern radiation therapy provision consisting of three Elekta Linear accelerators with 4DCBCT and intra-fractional imaging, Philips Brilliance big bore CT scanner, RayStation TPS, MOSAIQ Patient Management System and access to various imaging techniques including PET and MRI. We offer a variety of contemporary treatment techniques including IMRT, VMAT, HIGRT and SRT and use of number of novel tools (e.g. deformable image registration and EPID dosimetry). We have recently commissioned a new Versa HD system that is equipped with the Brainlab ExacTrac imaging system, a New Zealand first.

Auckland Radiation Oncology(ARO) is an independent freestanding radiation oncology facility in Auckland, New Zealand and is jointly owned by MercyAscot and Southern Cross Hospitals - two of the largest private hospital groups in New Zealand. ARO is a three linac centre, employing 5 physicists and 22 radiation therapists as well as supporting nursing and admin teams.
