Job Summary: Provides technical expertise and management skills for a reliable and cost efficient quality control program for linear accelerators, CT simulators, HDR and dosimetric equipment. Responsible for calibration protocols and traceability to NIST, also responsible for SRS, SBRT, Brachytherapy, IMRT and 3DXRT planning and QA.
Knowledge of therapeutic radiation physics as applied to external beam and brachytherapy procedures in a modern radiation oncology department.
Knowledge and understanding of equipment; the two facilities are equipped with four Varian linear accelerators, two GE CT simulators, an Acuity conventional simulator and two Elekta Nucleation HDR remote afterloaders. All accelerators are IGRT capable machines three with cone beam CT. One of them is Novalis TX for SRS, SBRT treatments. Other equipment include Eclipse treatment planning systems for conventional external beams and IMRTs, BrainLab iPlan for SRS and SBRT planning, Elekta Nucletron OnCentra for HDR planning. QA systems include MOSAIQ system, iba water-tank system, Sun Nuclear QA3 and MapCheck systems and many other QA software, variety of physics equipment. The department offers a full range of radiation oncology services including conventional radiotherapy, IMRT, SRS, SBRT, brachytherapy (HDR) and limited radiopharmaceutical brachytherapy.
The candidate is preferred to have a PhD degree in Medical Physics, Health Physics or related fields, with two years of postdoctoral training in Radiation Oncology. Experience in SRS, SBRT, HDR and IMRT is desirable. MS’s with five years of clinical experience are also encouraged to apply. Completed Board Certification is desirable or at a minimum board examination eligibility is required.
