DEPARTMENT OF RADIATION ONCOLOGY: The Division of Medical Physics, Department of Radiation Oncology, Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center is currently accepting applications for a full-time physicist. The division is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the medical physics team to support Jefferson’s dynamic and expanding clinical services, as well as innovative research and education. The Department of Radiation Oncology offers state-of-the-art treatment capabilities. System-wide equipment includes Elekta and Varian linacs, Nucletron HDR, Cyberknife, and Elekta Gamma Knife Icon. Treatment planning, OIS and EMR systems are hosted in cloud environments supporting harmonized network practices. Other special procedures supported by the Division of Medical Physics include TBI, TSET, superficial hyperthermia and extensive brachytherapy programs for the treatment of breast, prostate, skin, GYN, hepatic and lung diseases. The Division of Medical Physics currently consists of seventeen physicists and four physics residents.
Primary responsibilities will be at the Jefferson Asplundh Cancer Pavilion in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, a new state-of-the-art facility that opened in July 2018. The Jefferson Asplundh Cancer Pavilion is home to an active GYN HDR program and an expanding SRS/SBRT program. The position will consist of patient care including external beam, stereotactic radiosurgery, brachytherapy, radionuclide delivery and other clinical services. Duties may include partial direct or remote coverage of network centers with cross training in stereotactic radiosurgery. Involvement in the training of both physician and physics residents, as well as teaching in the Jefferson radiation therapy, dosimetry and medical physics graduate programs is encouraged. The Division of Medical Physics has an active academic program that includes strong research efforts in a number of areas. All medical physicists are expected to participate or lead in research projects.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or M.S. degree, and be either board certified or board eligible/post-CAMPEP residency in the field of Medical Physics.
