Novant Health is currently seeking an enthusiastic junior level Medical Physicist to join our team of 5 Medical Physicist (when fully staffed), 1 Medical Physics Assistant, 5 Dosimetrists, and 5 Radiation Oncologists at Forsyth Medical Center.The main center comprises of a Varian VitalBeam, an Elekta VersaHD, two Varian iX linacs, a VariSourse iX HDR Afterloader, and a Philips Big Bore CT simulator.VisonRT is used for SGRT.This center currently utilizes Philips Pinnacle and Varian Eclipse for treatment planning, but plans are underway to convert all treatment plans to be performed with Eclipse. Elekta Mosaiq is used as a Record and Verify system.Several special procedures are offered at the main campus such as cone and MLC based SRS, SBRT, T&O, Vag Cylinder, and Prostate seed implants.

Education: Master’s or Ph.D.
Experience: Two years minimum.Residency graduates accepted.
Licensure/Certification: Board Eligible by the American Board of Radiology or equivalent. Preferred: Passed ABR Part 1 Exam in Therapeutic Medical Physics, graduate of CAMPEP accredited Medical Physics Residency.
Skills Required:A knowledge of radiation therapy practices and principles.An understanding and appreciation of complex radiation therapy machines and systems.A commitment to safety in each and every action performed.The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.Excellent communication skills; written and verbal.Strong critical thinking and problem solving abilities.Keen attention to detail.Flexibility in scheduling.
Additional Skills Preferred:Advanced knowledge of treatment planning, brachytherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy, image guidance, State regulations, equipment calibrations and quality assurance, patient-specific quality assurance techniques, and electronic medical records.A general knowledge of Radiation Safety principles and practices.Willingness to travel on occasion for training and education.The willingness to tackle new challenges and expanding responsibilities.
