Mercyhealth Radiation Oncology is seeking an experienced medical physicist with strong clinical skills to join a dynamic clinical, patient-centered, and team-oriented department. The responsibilities will include providing physics oversight for the clinical radiation therapy services of state-of-the-art programs, including IMRT, VMAT, SRS, SBRT and IGRT. Our system includes three linear accelerators, including two Elekta Versa HD’s, RayStation planning and Mosaiq.
Responsible for providing leadership for Mercyhealth Physics services. Oversees the operations of clinical medical physics services that are provided at the Janesville Cancer Center (WI) and provides supervision of the physicist at the Rockford Cancer Center (IL). Oversees all aspects of the radiation therapy physics consistent with the mission and goals of the center, including clinical medical physics support, equipment calibration and commissioning, maintaining of appropriate quality assurance for equipment and treatment delivery, compliance with radiation safety, licensing issues and other pertinent regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides leadership and expertise of physics services across the system
Leads members of the physics and dosimetry staff, and takes a lead role in program, facility and technology development.
Assists radiation oncologists with treatment planning and assure accuracy of simulation and treatment delivery working with medical dosimetrists and radiation therapists
Experienced in radiation-producing equipment installation, acceptance, calibration, and commissioning.
Assures the accurate delivery of treatment plans, making certain that all required quality checks and monitors, inspections, maintenance, calibrations and verifications are performed, and assures compliance with all applicable federal and state, radiation regulations and accreditation/practice standards.
Performs the daily duties of a clinical medical physicist and participates in clinical physics projects and medical physics professional activities including continuing education and maintenance of certification.
