Advocate Radiation Oncology has an exciting opportunity for a medical physicist to join its newly created team of radiation oncology staff working in offices in Southwest Florida. The base office for this position will be Cape Coral; however vacation coverage will be required in other local centers. This is one of several new centers that will be open in Southwest Florida. The office has a new True Beam linear accelerator and a Bravos high dose rate after loading machine and plans for a Halcyon as well. Eclipse treatment planning along with ARIA treatment management system is used. Surface monitoring, respiratory gating, IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS along with conventional 3-D treatment methods are employed. All the equipment is new, including physics equipment: 3-d scanning tank; profiler; mapcheck; Mobius 3-d; nano-dot system etc. This is not a research position, however progressive treatment techniques are employed and it will be expected for the physicist to keep current on the latest treatment methods.
The Cape Coral office will be the third center to open since June 2019 and at least two more centers will open within the next year. You will be joining a team of highly experienced Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, Dosimetrists, RTT’s and IT staff. All the staff are very experienced and certified by their appropriate specialty board. A collaborative work environment is fostered, that is patient-focused. The successful candidate should be certified in therapeutic medical physics by the American board of Medical Physicists or by the American Board of Radiology. You should have an advanced degree, preferably in medical physics or physics.
