We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Department of Medical Physics at the Full Attending level (equivalent to Full Professor) in the role of Vice Chair for Radiotherapy Physics. This is a senior leadership position providing oversight and support for the academic and clinical growth of radiotherapy physics activities at MSK facilities. The successful candidate will:
Work with the Chairs of Medical Physics and Radiation Oncology as well as administrative and institutional leadership to develop strategy, and advance clinical and academic programs related to radiotherapy physics and radiation oncology.
Drive academic initiatives that are aligned with the strategic vision for radiotherapy at MSK and offer exciting opportunities for future clinical implementation.
Build collaborations within the Departments of Medical Physics and Radiation Oncology including between radiotherapy and imaging physicists, informatics experts, and radiation oncologists to ensure clinical innovation along with ongoing quality excellence at all MSK facilities.
The MSK Radiotherapy Physics team consists of over 100 staff including faculty level physicists, MS physicists, and dosimetrists. MSK enterprise-wide radiation oncology resources include twenty-nine linear accelerators, one MR-Linac, five HDR units, two MR simulators, ten CT simulators, and state-of-the-art inter- and intra-fractional imaging and motion management capabilities. MSK Radiation Oncology treats over 650 patients each day at seven facilities.
MSK has a large, cutting-edge program in all aspects of radiation oncology physics that seeks to improve the clinical effectiveness of radiation therapy in partnership with radiation oncologists, radiologists and other medical professionals. Many new programs in radiation therapy research and development are ongoing, including: integration of MR and PET imaging into radiotherapy decision making, the development of informatics-based radiotherapy processes, adaptive and automated radiotherapy planning, 4D imaging and motion management, automated segmentation, and the development and clinical use of predictive models (tumor control and normal tissue complication probability). We have a strong philosophy that all facilities will provide outstanding treatment quality as well as contributions to the overall mission of MSK to advance the state of cancer care.
The ideal candidate should have:
Demonstrated academic and clinical productivity in radiotherapy physics
Leadership experience, preferably within a large academic radiation oncology environment
