The Division of Medical Physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Stanford University seeks a board eligible or board certified medical physicist possessing a Ph.D. to join the Department as an Assistant (preferred) or Associate Professor in the Medical Center Line. The major criteria for faculty appointment in the Medical Center Line is excellence in the overall mix of clinical service, teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medical physics, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Faculty rank and salary will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. It is anticipated that the successful faculty candidate will be an excellent researcher in translational medical physics, committed teacher, and outstanding medical physicist. We are particularly interested in candidates who have the skills to establish an investigator-initiated research program focused primarily on discoveries that can be used to improve patient care. Experience and interest in multi-modality imaging, treatment planning (e.g. PET, 4D CT, MRI, IGRT, VMAT, IORT, brachytherapy) and biomedical artificial intelligence are desired. As the department uses a wide range of the state-of-the-art equipment (including Accuray CyberKnife, Varian Linear accelerators, VariSource HDR iX systems, and Mobetron IntraOp electron accelerators) experience and interest in using such equipment are requested. We expect the successful candidate to serve and strengthen the Medical Physics program, participate in the department’s clinical and translational research, and be involved in resident teaching. Other administrative or clinical duties will depend on the candidate’s prior experience. The activities of the Division and Department are diverse and include strong basic and translational research programs in Radiation Biology, Medical Physics, and Molecular Imaging, offering unique opportunities for the successful candidate to integrate into these research programs. Applications will be reviewed immediately and accepted until the position is filled. Stanford is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Stanford also welcomes applications from others who would bring additional dimensions to the University’s research, teaching and clinical missions.
