Medical Physics: Radiation Oncology, Medical Physics: Radiological Physics - General
The Department of Radiation Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University, Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking three faculty radiation physicists due to expansions in advanced technology, brachytherapy and rapid regional growth. Our departmental vision is a fully integrated, harmonized network of physicists, providing the highest quality, safest, most efficient care for our patients across the Jefferson enterprise. Experience and leadership in brachytherapy and/or the clinical implementation of innovative technologies will be considered an advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all facets of radiation oncology physics clinical support and quality assurance at the primary center and network sites as needed virtually or physically.
Our existing group of dynamic physicists has 5 MS and 13 PhD physicists supporting eight locations with 13 linacs, 1 GammaKnife Icon, 1 Cyberknife, 4 HDR units, superficial hyperthermia and a full suite of LDR brachytherapy programs. In the next year, we are adding MRI-Linac capabilities and will continue to expand the Jefferson enterprise. Our education mission includes training, lectures and mentorship for a robust medical residency, dosimetry school, therapy school, the Jefferson Masters in Medical Physics program and a CAMPEP accredited physics residency with six filled positions and two more approved.
This position will interface with a collaborative group of clinical faculty, laboratory scientists and other members of the NCI-designated Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson Medical College, a national leader in cancer treatment and research. Jefferson’s Center City Campus is located in downtown Philadelphia offering an array of cultural, athletic, and outdoor activities. All location sites are within an hour to the ocean, and two hours to the mountains, and New York City is less than two hours away.

Faculty rank will be commensurate with degrees, board certification, clinical experience, funding, publications, and leadership track record. Ph.D. in physics or closely related field is preferred, however outstanding MS applicants will be considered. All applications must be certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Board of Medical Physicists in Therapeutic Medical Physics or have completed an accredited residency and be ABR board eligible.
