The Henry Ford Cancer Institute at the Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) is presently recruiting for a junior to mid-level physicist to join our medical physics team. The successful candidate will join a large group of physicists in providing clinical physics services at the main campus and 5 affiliated hospitals in the lower Michigan area. The spectrum of radiotherapy procedures includes: MR guided RT, IGRT, stereotactic radiosurgery and SBRT, HDR brachytherapy applications, and other procedures, such as TBI/TSET, hyperthermia, etc. Candidates will be expected to contribute to education/training of medical and medical physics residents, and students as part of the mission of the HFHS. On-going research include the areas of: MRgRT, IGRT, SRS/SBRT, quantitative image analysis including Radiomics, applications of AI, gene therapy, tumor and normal tissue response assessment, biological imaging, methods to enhance safety/quality, and other topics of interest. The main hospital and its 5 affiliated centers provide cutting edge treatments using state-of-the-art technologies, including MRIdian (MR linac), cone-beam CT (Truebeam, Trilogy), Novalis Tx, 4D CT scanning (Philips), VariSource HDR systems, among others. A Varian Halcyon machine is slated for installation this Fall. Several systems are available for motion management including Varian/Calypso, automatic breathing control (ABC) devices, Humediq (Varian), Vision RT. Clinical treatment planning is performed using Eclipse/ARIA (Varian) and iPlan (BrainLab) treatment planning systems. A comprehensive suite of measurement detectors is available for machine commissioning, on-going QA and PSQA. The dept. of Radiation Oncology (main campus) will be relocated to a new contemporary, comprehensive cancer center that is attached to the main hospital in June, 2020. The new department is a located on the first floor (surrounded by windows), and includes 4 vaults (Trubeams, Edge and MRIdian), 2 CT simulators (one combined in the HDR suite), and a MRI simulator.
