Medical Physics: Industry, Medical Physics: Radiation Oncology, Medical Physics: Radiation Oncology Dosimetry
NorthMain Radiation Oncology / US Oncology is looking to hire a full time Medical Physicist.
Responsible for the design optimization, technical evaluation, and precise and accurate delivery of radiation treatment plans. Responsible for the safety of patients and staff. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
The successful candidate will work with the Chief Physicist to provide quality physics support, including, but not limited to following:
Perform calibration on all radiation therapy equipment on a routine basis for continued utility, appropriateness, and reliable performance.
Supervising treatment planning/dosimetry for all clinical procedures
Advises and consults with physicians, dosimetrists and therapists to provide advice or direction to technical staff when patients are being planned or treated.
Participates in the specification, selection, and acceptance of radiation-producing machines, accessories, and computerized treatment-planning system. Supervises arrangements for proper maintenance of radiation treatment equipment.
Perform routine chart checks to assure plan accuracy.
Perform weekly chart checks.
Participates in chart rounds to ensure the fulfillment of the prescription and review any changes in dose and patient set-up.
Participates in the clinical instruction of newly hired radiation staff and radiation therapy students.
Conducts HDR and LDR brachytherapy procedures as needed.
Qualified candidates will have a Master’s in Medical Physics and will be board certified. Although certification is desired, board eligible candidates are encouraged to apply. Must maintain certification, once attained, and continuing education requirements outlined by American College of Radiology. Experience with Elekta, MOSAIQ, Varian Truebeam, Calypso, Nucletron, Pinnacle TPS, ARIA, Eclipse TPS and Variseed TPS is desirable.
North Main Radiation Oncology is a freestanding center servicing Rhode Island. The department currently treats on three linear accelerators with an active SBRT program and the desire of developing an SRS program.
