Radiation Physics Residency Program - 2020
Three Radiation Oncology Physics resident positions are available for the CAMPEP approved Residency Program in the Department of Radiation Physics at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. The Physics Residency Program provides training and experience in the clinical aspects of radiation oncology physics. This training encompasses the full gamut of direct patient care physics duties in brachytherapy and external beam treatment (including proton therapy). External beam special procedures include IMRT, IGRT, SRS/SRT, TSET, TBI, Gamma Knife and MR-Linac. Training in brachytherapy procedures will include LDR, HDR, PDR and seed implants. This is a clinical training program. However, some time may be spent in clinical developmental projects. Training involves rotations with clinical physics groups supporting all treatment sites. The resident will work under the direct supervision of experienced, board certified, clinical medical physicists. Training progress will be monitored through regular meetings with the program director and routine oral examinations. The ideal candidate will have an M.S. or Ph.D. in medical physics from a CAMPEP accredited graduate education program. Candidates with an M.S. or Ph.D. in physics, engineering, or related fields who have completed a CAMPEP accredited certificate program will also be considered. Our residency program Will Not Participate in National Matching System this year (2019-2020).
The Division of Radiation Oncology currently treats over 8500 patients annually on over 30 treatment units.
