Computer Science: Software Engineering, Medical Physics: Diagnostic Imaging, Medical Physics: Radiation Oncology
The Department of Radiation Oncology at Allegheny Health Network, Pittsburgh, seeks to hire one postdoctoral researcher. The term of appointment is one-year beginning on approximately July 1, 2019, with a possible extension of up to two or three years depending on performance. Our physics group is under a major restructuring and expansion. The Radiation Oncology currently treats over 2500 patients annually on 19 treatment units and 5 Elekta HDR Flexitrons across 15 facilities. Each facility houses a 4-D CT scanner. AGH, the main hospital of AHN system, has a GammaKnife, a GammaPod, an Elekta Versa HD, an ExacTrac, an Elekta HDR Flexitron, and a Siemens Artiste. A brand new academic cancer center at AGH will add an Elekta MR Unity accelerator, a 1.5T MR simulator, two Elekta Versa HD, ExacTrac, Monaco, and RayStation planning systems, and possibly a research 3T MR scanner. Construction is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2020. The Physics group will employ 24 faculty and professional staff involved in clinical medical physics activities by this summer. We also have a new residency program in this year.
The ideal candidate has experience in the database structure design, building large data sets, and data-mining using machine/deep learning. Programming and data processing skills are required. Our research is primarily focused on building big data from radiomic and genomic analysis for patient outcome studies. For radiomic research, multi-parametric magnetic resonance images and other imaging modalities will be used. There are academic faculties and other institution collaborators for supervision. In addition, an academic MR scientist will guide and supervise, who has significant programming skill and MR imaging experience. The qualified postdoctoral researcher will be eligible to apply for medical physics residency training.
