Wellspring Cancer Center in St. Petersburg, Florida area has an opportunity for a full-time physicist. The center includes a Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator with conebeam imaging, treating an average of 50 patients per day and an Elekta Nucletron HDR treatment unit. Treatment services include 3D, Electron, IMRT, IGRT, SRS/SBRT, and various HDR treatment modalities. The center utilizes an all Varian environment with ARIA, Eclipse, and Velocity with Oncentra as the HDR planning unit. In addition, new physics equipment includes an array of Sun Nuclear products for daily, monthly, and annual calibrations.
QA testing and calibration of all external beam therapy machines and after loader delivered radioactive sources in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
Initial treatment plan checks to assure the accuracy, safety and efficacy of dose delivery. Recommend improvements to physicians and dosimetry when appropriate.
Continuing physics consultation to assure accurate delivery of treatments throughout the course of each patient’s care.
Physics support and consultation on simulation through final treatment.
Assist with and occasionally perform treatment planning and image fusions.
Advises and consults with physicians to provide to technical staff.
Directs the radiation oncology physics program, including technical direction of medical dosimetrists and therapy equipment service engineers.
Implement new technologies and new treatment modalities.
Assure understanding of and adherence to all radiation safety procedures.
Demonstrate professional behavior/conduct in all interactions, and foster teamwork amongst staff.
Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors.
Supervision of brachytherapy procedures.
Completes, keeps, and maintains proper records of all required documentation for radiation treatment plans, equipment maintenance, QA and Calibration, and State of Florida Compliance.
Master's degree in Physics or Medical Physics from an accredited college or university.
Board-certified by American Board of Radiology or Board of Medical Physics.
Must possess or be eligible for a Florida License in Therapeutic Radiological Physics.
Must be eligible to be placed on a Florida Radioactive Materials license for HDR use.
Experienced in ARIA and Eclipse and have HDR and SBRT/SRS treatment planning experience.
